XOCHIMILCODuration: 10 Hours
Mexico City was built over a lake in the valley of Anahuac. Xochimilco is still the remains of that beginning with its past customs and ways of sewing. Portions of land surrounded by channels are known as Chinanpas, and the Trajineras are boats made using the basic ancient techniques used by the Aztecs to travel through the channels. These boats are colorful and decorated in flowers. Each Trajinera, named after a woman, has its own particular touch. About 85 square miles of green area rivers, trees, flower and tradition are within the most populated metropolitan area of the world. Xochilmilco is one of the most picturesque areas of Mexico City. Enjoy a boat ride along the ancient canals on a Trajinera.
