Travel Impressions Sponsors School Charity Event in Punta Cana During 2017 'Best of the Best' Conference
FARMINGDALE, NY (November 18, 2017) — During its annual Best of the Best conference and awards gala, held this weekend in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Travel Impressions (www.TravelImpressions.com) coordinated a school charity event in which staff and several agents and suppliers visited a local school to drop off donations and interact with students. The charity outreach event took place on Nov. 17 and was a joint effort with Amstar dmc, the Dominican Republic's leading destination management company, in combination with an Outback Safari excursion.
Travel Impressions and its agent and supplier partners provided students at donation-based Villa Playwood School in Veron with a variety of donated items including general school supplies, textbooks, reference materials, flash cards, wall charts, art supplies, sports equipment, simple musical instruments, age-appropriate literature and clothing. Approximately 60 children aged 5 to 14 were present for the interactions.
"Giving back to the communities where our clients vacation is not just a spiritually and emotionally rewarding experience, itís an investment in the sustainability of the destination," said Scott Wiseman, president of Travel Impressions. "This is our second year incorporating philanthropy into the Best of the Best program—something I hope will become a tradition as we continue to evolve our annual conference to enhance its impact for travel agents, our supplier partners and the destinations in our portfolio."
In 2016, Travel Impressions, under the leadership of Melissa Alexander, Director of Leisure Sales for Atlantis, Paradise Island, hosted a Best of the Best beach clean-up event in Cancun with attending agents, BDMs and suppliers. Last year's activities were a success thanks to the support of AMResorts and the dedicated staff at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort.
